ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) – Albany Police Officers Union President Greg McGee says Albany dispatchers are still being overworked, because they’re still understaffed.
“One of the dispatchers just updated me, and he’s had 47 mandatories as of yesterday. He’s done 48 hours of work in the last three days,” McGee said.

LANCASTER, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) A former Chester County 911 dispatcher is on trial this week for his wife’s murder almost three years after her death.
Court testimony showed that Judy Orr Baldwin died on December 14th, 2016 from blunt force trauma. Solicitor Candice Lively said the autopsy report showed a 24 centimeter fracture on her skull.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — Tallahassee and Leon County residents will soon have a new standard of care when they call 911; the Consolidated Dispatch Agency is switching to scripted protocols for all law enforcement calls.
The new procedures put all dispatchers on the same level, regardless of their experience.
This means that when residents call 911 for help from TPD or Leon County Sheriff’s Deputies, the dispatcher will follow the same standard procedure…

I loved your recent insert recognizing our local first responders. I was, however, dismayed with the failure by The Bakersfield Californian as well as the leadership of our local agencies who failed to recognize the very first person to respond to an emergency: the dispatchers who answer those calls.
