Almost $3 million in upgrades expected for Westmoreland County’s 911 system (PA)

Westmoreland County commissioners are expected this week to approve more than $2.7 million in upgrades to the 911 emergency dispatch system.

Public Safety Director Roland Mertz said Tuesday that plans call for replacement of aging computer-aided dispatch equipment and installation of a new transmission tower to provide better radio service in the Loyalhanna Gorge area between Latrobe and Ligonier.

La Crosse County 2020 budget saving taxpayer dollars, improving 911 communications

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – La Crosse County property taxpayers will continue to save money next year. La Crosse County officials said the 2020 budget keeps taxes in check but provides the funding needed for road repairs. 

The county did need to borrow $5 million, however,  to meet the need for those upgrades. The board also approved $150,000 for the La Crosse Center, as well as funds to continue improving the emergency radio system. County Board Chair Tara Johnson said this budget was a successful one.

Plymouth Council OKs pact for new dispatchers (CT)

PLYMOUTH – Town Council members approved a contract Monday with Litchfield County Dispatch effective April 2020 that will result in the layoffs of the town’s 12 dispatchers next year. The town will enter into a three-month agreement from April 1 through June 30 with LCD to close out the 2019-20 fiscal year.

Cleveland police dispatcher fired after criminal mischief conviction (OH)

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A Cleveland police dispatcher was fired after being convicted of criminal mischief.

John Haney III, 35, was terminated on Nov. 15.

Haney had been charged with multiple counts of theft, but was convicted of the lesser charge of criminal mischief.
