LONDON, ONT. —
During a new constable’s swearing-in ceremony at the London Police
Service headquarters Friday morning, Deb Dodds, a 911 dispatcher for
over 40 years, was honoured to present her daughter Jessica with her
badge.
“This is definitely one of the most exciting moments of my life,”
Const. Jessica Dodds told CTV News London. “This has been a dream for me
since I was 12 years old. And I was very fortunate that my mom was able
to give me my badge today.”
Deb Dodds is eligible for retirement but says one of the reason she
hasn’t taken it is because “I wanted to stay for a while so I could
dispatch her calls … and she wanted me to say for a while so it’s kind
of nice.”

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — When medical dispatchers relocated and could no longer hear code red fire alarms at the Health Sciences Centre, they weren’t always being tipped off and they became concerned that patients arriving aboard ambulances could be affected by them not being in the loop.
“When a red alert (fire alarm) comes in for either (the Health Sciences Centre) or (St. Clare’s) and access to the hospital is restricted, it would be nice if we could get a call,” Eastern Health medical communications centre operations manager Ian Winter wrote to regional protection services in July, according to emails released as part of a Telegram access to information request related to paramedic concerns.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position of dispatcher.
Applicants must be 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license and a clear criminal background.
Candidates must be able to work weekends and holidays and must be able to function in a fast-paced environment.
To apply, obtain an application in person from The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office at 1025 South Main Street in Kenton.
All applications must be filled out and returned to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office by 4pm on Friday, December 27th.

WOOSTER — The Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced the 2019 Trooper and Dispatcher of the Year.
Dispatcher Elza Lloyd was selected as the Wooster Post’s Dispatcher
of the Year. The selection was determined by his peers and officers from
both the Ashland and Wooster Posts. This is his fourth nomination while
at the Wooster Post.
Lloyd started at the Wooster Post in September 2011. He lives in Wayne County, where he resides with his wife and two daughters.
