MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Neglected and abused animals have fallen through the cracks in Shelby County because of failures in the system.
That’s according to a Mid-South animal rescue, whose members said they witness these failures time and time again.
FOX13 spoke with that rescue and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office today.

The Oregon State Sheriff’s Association has recognized Baker County
dispatcher Amanda Bunch for distinguished service in helping save the
life of a toddler who nearly drowned in a bathtub last spring.

Federal investigators say the crash of an air ambulance late last month
occurred at night after two other companies turned down the flight due
to weather and limited daylight.
The dispatch officer for Medevac Alaska, the company that provided a
paramedic and flight nurse, wasn’t notified of the previous declined
flight requests, according to a preliminary report released Wednesday by the National Transportation Safety Board.
Three people died the evening of Nov. 29 when a plane carrying a two-person medical crew crashed above the Sterling Highway on the Kenai Peninsula. The crash occurred about 15 miles west of Quartz Creek Airport.

Former Canton Township 9-1-1 dispatcher
Joshua Choroba recalled in a November deposition the moment he realized
the volume on the emergency-dispatch system was turned down as employees
at Heartland Rehabilitation Center tried frantically to get help for
patient Stephen Greene, who had stopped breathing on the morning of
March 2, 2018.
Greene died that day from a massive heart attack. The Belleville resident was 69.
Both
Choroba and colleague Rachel Rowell were disciplined by the township
for negligence related to the muted volume, and the estate of Stephen Greene is suing Canton Township for $6.9 million.

Murfreesboro, TN (Rutherford County)–Chris and Lacey Ray of Lynchburg,
Tennessee were reunited with a medic team from Rutherford County
Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS) and a Rutherford County Dispatcher
this week just a month after the team delivered their baby boy in the
back of an ambulance.
Lacey was en route to Centennial Medical
Center on the interstate when her contractions began to get closer
together. Her husband Chris called 9-1-1 and explained the situation.
Medics were dispatched to the scene and when they arrived, Lacey was
beginning to feel the baby’s head.
With Lacey’s being a high-risk pregnancy, medics suggested ….

The Cambridge Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol (OHP) has named Trooper Keith Roe as the 2019 Post Trooper of the Year and selected Post Dispatcher Nicole Wheeler for the 2019 Ohio State Highway Patrol Telecommunications award at the Cambridge Dispatch Center.
“Being nominated as the trooper/dispatcher of the year is one of the greatest award nominations because it comes from their peers,” Post Commander, Lt. Melanie Appleman said.
