HOLBROOK — Director Steve Hooke of the Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center would like to take this opportunity to commend the staff of the HRECC for their efforts during the recent flooding incident that took place at Norwood Hospital.
On Sunday, June 28 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Norwood Hospital began evacuating patients due to heavy rain that caused flooding in the hospital’s basement, resulting in an electrical issue on the premises and a loss of power.

MERIDEN — Staffing shortages at the city’s emergency dispatch center haven’t jeopardized the safety of residents or first responders, City Manager Tim Coon said this week.
Coon responded to a statement issued by the dispatchers union this week criticizing the city for a lack of staffing by detailing ways in which the city has sought to remedy the shortages in recent months.

DENVER — A new Colorado law expands access to workers’ compensation for 911 dispatchers who develop PTSD from listening to traumatic incidents.

BRANCH COUNTY — Local emergency responders and officials have not taken well to social media posts that claim 911 dispatchers “just answer the phone.”
Comments were posted as Branch County commissioners reopened negotiations regarding starting pay for dispatchers after a staffing crisis.
Only seven dispatchers fill the 11 spots necessary to provide 24-hour, seven-day-per-week coverage without excessive overtime and limited days off.
