Hoover dispatchers heading to Baldwin County to offer relief (AL)

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — It’s not just police and fire that have been deployed to help those recovering from Hurricane Sally. Sunday, the city of Hoover deployed a small team of 911 dispatchers to help in the relief efforts.

Two Hoover 911 dispatchers are en route to Baldwin County and will work in Spanish Fort. The two will dispatch law enforcement officers as calls come in…

Board for 911 passes budget (AR)

The Jefferson County 911 Administrative Board approved a $2.9 million budget for 2021 on Thursday for the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Association (MECA) as well as the transfer of 911 money to fund a new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system, the first such system upgrade the communications center has had since 2007.

Defunding the police: Proposal by Asheville city manager would cut budget by $770,000, reassign telecommunicator positions (NC)

ASHEVILLE – In the face of calls to defund police by up to 50%, the city manager is now proposing cutting $770,000 from the force, according to a newly released budget proposal.

Franklin County kids enjoy ride-along with deputy, tour of E911 Communications Center (VA)

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Two Franklin County elementary school students got to be picked up from school in style on Monday with a ride-along from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

New Orleans 911 operators help out in hurricane-stricken Alabama (LA)

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) – Inside the Orleans Parish Communications District’s 911 call center operators were busy responding to citizens calls. But several of their co-workers were many miles away in Alabama assisting victims of Hurricane Sally.
