Henrico Emergency Communications Center back to normal (VA)

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — UPDATE (5:45) Henrico County announced that its Emergency communication Center has returned to its normal operating procedures.

They added the cause of today’s outage is currently under review.

Chevron donates $100000-plus for emergency communications

Prompted in part by this year’s Pine Gulch Fire, Chevron is donating a total of more than $100,000 to entities including Mesa County to help with emergency management communication needs.

The company is donating $38,000 to Mesa County Emergency Services, $30,000 to the town of Rangely, $26,500 to the De Beque Fire Protection District and $15,000 to Garfield County Emergency Management…

The W-Y Communications Center has Text to 911 fully implemented and available to the public to utilize.

Text to 911 is the ability to send SMS text messages to your local 911 emergency dispatch center during a crisis.  Text to 911 should only be used in an emergency, and only if you cannot safely call 911.

Public Safety Advocate: 3GPP Mission-Critical Working Group, MCPTT Standards, T-Band

This week we begin with comments about The FirstNet Authority blog concerning 3GPP and my comments on the 3GPP MCPTT standard and devices in the market today. Next up is the delay in the Senate’s passing of the repeal of the T-Band giveback due to one Senator and hopes for new Majority FCC Commissioners who truly care about how spectrum is used and who needs it instead of doling it out to commercial interests to the detriment of critical-communications systems. 

3GPP Mission-Critical Update

People who, like me, are interested in the mission-critical segment of the 3GPP standards for both 4G (LTE) and 5G networks commented on last week’s Advocate and agreed that sifting through the 3GPP website is quite difficult…
