V-COMM Continues Public Safety Wireless Work (NJ)

CRANBURY – V-COMM, a leading telecommunications engineering firm, was hired by Cape May County to continue the expansion of the county’s 700 megahertz (MHz) Project 25 (P25) system, in conjunction with New Jersey’s Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) network.  

According to a release, the county’s new network is being built in conjunction with the State of New Jersey’s P25 network and provides interoperability for all agencies within the county and state. The expanded public safety wireless system will provide direct interoperability with Cape May County’s neighbors, Atlantic County and Cumberland County. V-COMM is providing the engineering, FCC licensing, and project management that will bring this network into existence…

HYNDMAN — First responders in Hyndman are getting a major boost in their wireless communications with the addition of a new, purpose-built FirstNet cell site that AT&T turned on last week.

The new site, announced in July 2018, is a part of the FirstNet network expansion taking place across the state, bringing increased coverage, capacity and capabilities for public safety…

Union Fire District of South Kingstown Shares Important Information on Upcoming Vote For Communication Infrastructure Improvements (RI)

On Tuesday, Nov. 3, voters will be asked whether or not to pass a bond in the amount of $6.5 million to fund several projects as part of the Town’s capital improvement plan. Of these projects is a $2.2 million request to fund “communication infrastructure improvements” for the creation of a single Town-wide Radio System that will service the Town’s police and emergency medical services departments and the two volunteer fire districts (the Union Fire District and Kingston Fire District)… 

Longtime 911 Dispatcher Norman Pilkerton Passes Away (MD)

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office regrets to share the news that Norman Alexander Pilkerton Jr. passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at the age of 81.

Pilkerton worked for the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office as a 911 emergency dispatcher for 34 years when he retired in 2001.

During his tenure, Sheriff Wayne Pettit, in office from 1982 to 1994, chose Pilkerton to supervise all of the Sheriff’s Office communications personnel…
