Job Duties:
Answer 911 and non-emergency phone calls from the public to rapidly assimilate information to determine which resource (police, fire, EMS) is needed. Operate a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, an NCIC/TCIC console, and an interoperable radio console. Monitor Texas State intrusion and fire alarms via SureGuard, Insight, and Fireworks. Monitor video surveillance system. Monitor CS Gold access system. Receive calls from external alarm monitoring companies. Monitor RAVE Guardian system for emergency notifications. Monitor after hours CSA email. Monitors, enters, maintains, updates and researches information into TCIC/NCIC (Texas Criminal Information Center and National Criminal Information Center) and TLETS/NLETS (Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System/National Law Enforcement Telecommunication System) databases. Researches and responds to inquiries from other law enforcement agencies and departments. Perform CSA duties as required by Clery Act.

When you’re planning to dig a hole, whether with a shovel or other excavating equipment, there’s a number as important to call as 9-1-1.
Today is National 8-1-1 Day, which reminds anyone who plans to dig to “call before you dig” so buried public utilities can be marked with paint, flags or stakes to prevent injury and/or utility damage.
“Hitting a buried line while digging can disrupt utility service, cost money to repair, or cause serious injury or death,” according to the website call811.com.
In Virginia, the 811 call center should be contacted at least 48 hours in advance of the planned dig to allow time for all utility suppliers to mark their buried lines, cables or pipes. The marks are valid for 15 days from 7 a.m. the day following notice to 811… READ MORE

Residents or visitors to Lowndes County can now send a text message to 9-1-1 for help in an emergency. While Lowndes County 911 emphasizes calls are still the best and fastest way to contact 9-1-1, text messages are an option when a call may not be possible.

Hoping to bring local control of fees charged to pay for 9-1-1 services, the Central Texas Council of Governments is asking its members to create a regional 9-1-1 Emergency Communications District.
