Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) selects 1Spatial to support Next Generation 9-1-1 Buildout

The State of Arizona has begun migrating from Enhanced 9-1-1 to NextGen 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) to improve the infrastructure and processes that support the 9-1-1 efforts. Accurate geospatial data will be essential to ensure calls are routed to the correct Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), which will require statewide data validation and integration to be successful. As all 9-1-1 systems will be required to validate their GIS data against the State standards and to align their data with neighboring jurisdictions’ GIS data, the State has chosen 1Spatial to implement their Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) automated rules engine, 1Integrate, with 1Data Gateway, 1Spatial’s easy to use validation and submission portal to enable the process… READ MORE

Will a cyberattack take down next-generation 911?

The upcoming generation of 911 technologies is exciting for a lot of people working in public safety today because it represents the first major upgrade in decades.

The idea that people at the scene of an accident or a crime will be able to not only call for help, but send first responders images and videos of what’s happening, holds great promise for those who’ve been charged with keeping the public safe. But with any new technology comes new security risks, and those who are designing the new system are thinking about that, too.

One of those people is Brandon Abley, a technical issues director with the National Emergency Number Association who also sits on an NG911 working group convened by the Federal Communications Commission. In an interview with StateScoop, he explained why he expects next-generation 911, though more complex than today’s systems, to also be more secure… READ MORE

Washington state agencies brace for staffing disaster following Inslee’s vaccine deadline

The deadline for most state government, health care and school workers in Washington to get their mandated coronavirus vaccination is Monday, October 18. Democrat Governor Jay Inslee issued the mandate in August and unlike other mandates across the country, provided no test-out option. His message was crystal clear, obey or lose your job.

This is despite the Washington state Department of Health reporting, as of October 11, that 77.6 percent of Washingtonians ages 12 and older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. 71.4 percent of people 12 and older are fully vaccinated, well past the CDC’s parameters for herd immunity, even without factoring in the number of residents who already contracted the virus… READ MORE
