Letter to the Editor: More training for 911 operators (SC)

It is time that we see a change in the number of individuals that survive sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in South Carolina.  Currently, there is only about a 12% survival rate for those who experience SCA outside of the hospital setting. With a large majority of cardiac events happening at home, implementing proper protocols could mean saving the life of a family member, neighbor, or friend.

CPSO implements first visual 911 system in Louisiana

The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office has its eye on the parish — literally.

Concordia Parish Sheriff David Hedrick, along with Chief Deputy Fred Middleton and CFO Tamiko Bloodsaw, informed Ferriday Rotary Club this week on several new programs and the financial status of the sheriff’s office.

Time-wasting 911 calls increasing in Peel Region: report (Canada)

The number of calls to 911 dispatchers in Peel Region grew last year along with the number of calls classified as misuse, according to new figures.

A report, which will be considered on Thursday by the Region of Peel’s emergency management program committee, said the number of 911 calls grew 11 per cent from 2020 to 2021.

9-1-1 Is Being Upgraded (Canada)

Within a few years, your Enhanced 911 service will be upgraded to New Generation 911 service.

The news came to the Corporate Support Standing Committee of Northumberland County council at its May meeting from Health Safety Emergency Risk Manager Ken Stubbings, who explained the benefits of the upgrade.

A 911 caller today will be registered on the system by his or her address, Stubbings said, and the caller is located through a table-based system consisting of civic-address ranges… READ MORE
