Alachua County Combined Communication Center workers prepare to work through Christmas (FL)

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – As many places look to close their doors and send workers home on Christmas Eve and Christmas the phones still need to be manned at the Alachua Combine Communications Center.

Telecommunicators work in shifts 24-hours a day, seven days a week to make sure that all 9-1-1 calls are serviced and the building will be fully staffed for the holidays. Jeanette Whitworth has worked at the center for nearly four years and she says that holiday shifts are typically slow.

“It’s a little bit lighter. the holidays can bring some negativity to people and it makes it tougher for other to endure the holidays so we have that aspect to deal with and those type of calls to deal with. Bloomington telecommunicator honored with two Life-Saving awards (IL)

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A telecommunicator for the city of Bloomington had a busy week helping save lives in the community.

Amanda Richmond’s efforts earned her two Life-Saving awards.

Commissioners discuss 911 progress: Rogers County 911 call center answered 99.99% of calls with in 20 seconds in 2020 (OK)

Rogers County Commissioner Ron Burrows said the consolidation of the Rogers County Communications Center is almost completed.

Director of the Northeast Oklahoma E911 Trust Authority, Vicky Atchley presented a list of accomplishments by the RCCC at Monday’s regular Rogers County Commissioner’s meeting.

Alert Issued For Android Glitch That Could Block 9-1-1 Calls From Going Through

An urgent alert has been issued regarding Android phones that could cause devices to “freeze” when making an emergency call.

The glitch apparently causes Android phones to lock up when attempting to make a 9-1-1 call as the device attempts to share location with emergency service officials, rather than connecting with police or other agency.

Rapid response: Valley counties move toward ‘seamless’ 9-1-1 (TX)

Dec. 17—Officials in the Lower Rio Grande Valley announced a new communications service called RGV9-1-1 to serve Willacy and Hidalgo counties.

In partnership with Cameron County, the new emergency call operation will provide a “seamless” web to allow first responders quick notification across the region, meaning faster response times.
