AKRON, Ohio — An Akron couple is thankful for an area dispatcher after she helped them deliver their baby.
The couple, who does not wish to be identified, had the baby earlier than expected at their home in the Akron area. The wife told the husband she was having contractions, then shortly later said, “the baby is coming now!”

WASHTENAW COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2) – You can now text 911 if you are unable to call during an emergency in Washtenaw County.
Calling is still considered the best option in most cases because it is quicker, but texting can be used if you are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or speech impaired, or when speaking out loud could put you in danger.

The Independence County Quorum Court met Monday evening to begin the a new year of business for the area.
County attorney Daniel Haney told the court he expects the City of Batesville to appeal Circuit Court Judge Holly Meyer’s final order filed Jan. 6, which awarded the county $174,682 in damages.
“The county has been vindicated,” Haney told the court, adding it would be difficult to overturn this decision.

FLUSHING — Uncertainty with the county’s current EMS response situation has prompted Flushing officials to investigate the possibility of forming the city’s own 911 dispatch center.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The City of Rockford and Winnebago County will be some of the first in Illinois to use a new feedback survey after a call to 9-1-1.
The service uses text messaging to contact some 911 callers and others that have recently reported or been involved in certain types of incidents.
Text messages are sent hours or sometimes a few days after a call for service and will ask citizens to take a quick survey about their experience with the 911 Center, allowing citizens to provide their own comments after receiving service… READ MORE
