Santa Barbara County now allows Text-to-911 during emergencies (CA)

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – “Call if you can — text if you can’t” is the slogan for Santa Barbara County’s newest emergency service: Text-to-911.

The program allows community members who are hearing and speech-impaired, or anyone who is in a situation where it is too dangerous to speak over the phone, to text the emergency number for help.

Rowan County announced the appointment of Allen Cress as Interim Emergency Services Chief following the departure of Chris Soliz.

9-1-1 Board Concerned About Local Ambulance Coverage (IN)

Owensboro-Daviess County Central Dispatch upgrades Smart911 (KY)

The Owensboro-Daviess County Central Dispatch upgraded its Smart911 system earlier this week as part of a regular maintenance procedure. 

Paul Nave, 911 dispatch director, said the main added feature is a new map version that allows dispatchers to locate people even faster when they call 9-1-1.
