State agencies have granted money to the Rockport, Essex and Manchester police departments.
The Rockport Police Department has received nearly $30,000 in grant funding for new dispatcher software and additional traffic safety operations.

BERRYVILLE — Clarke County 911 dispatchers will be compensated for placing themselves at risk during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A recent $52,425 allocation by the Clarke County Board of Supervisors will go toward providing the 12 Emergency Communications Center employees “hazard pay” alongside sheriff’s deputies, jail security officers and paid fire/rescue personnel. After more than 18 months of work, Taylor County’s 9-1-1 upgrade is completed.
According to sheriff Larry Woebbeking, the upgrades were necessary due to the age of the previous equipment and technology changes. The county’s dispatch center, located at the courthouse, is a hub of activity in handling emergency calls of all types.
Woebbeking explained the previous equipment was more than 20 years old and was showing its wear with increasing difficulty in finding replacement parts to keep the system running… READ MORE

The Ripon Common Council put the decision of whether to transfer the city’s dispatch center to Fond du Lac County on hold Monday night during an emotion-filled meeting.
