Monday’s Carroll City Council meeting, City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, presented information received at a recent Carroll City/County Communications Center Commission meeting. The data he shared shows calls recorded are for more than just 911.
Fifty percent of the cost is covered by the City of Carroll and 50 percent by the county. Pogge-Weaver says when broken down, the city residents pay 68.5 percent of the total bill for the communications center through property taxes. LINCOLN — The former Verizon Wireless call center has a new tenant, and it’s not who you might expect.
The Nebraska State Patrol announced Monday that it would consolidate most of its operations in the building at 4600 Innovation Drive, near Interstate 80 and Northwest First Street.

There’s another option for Athens County residents to contact emergency dispatching services and connect with emergency responders, as the 9-1-1 dispatching center in the county has launched a texting service to compliment the longstanding call service.
Effective Jan. 1, 2021, residents can send a text to 9-1-1 on cell phones and connect with a dispatcher. It is important to remember that the fastest way to connect and receive emergency responses is by calling 9-1-1, but texting will allow for those with hearing impairments or in dangerous situations to connect with law enforcement… READ MORE
