73-year-old woman’s agonizing wait for help after calling 911 (FL)

On April 20 at approximately 11 a.m. a 73-year-old woman fell at her home on County Road 109 (Oakland Hills). After falling she was able to get herself to her cell phone and placed a call to 911. Upon making contact with the dispatch center for American Medical Response (AMR) she was asked a few questions. The communicator then transferred her call to a nurse who proceeded to ask her more questions. This nurse determined the call to be non-emergency in nature and dispatched an AMR basic life support unit to her location. County may move its backup dispatch center (IN)

A backup location for the Vigo County’s 911 Central Dispatch Center could be included in the new headquarters for the Terre Haute Police Department. The E911 Advisory Board agreed Wednesday to recommend the move to the Vigo County Commissioners. The move would in effect relocate the county’s backup dispatch center from the Emergency Management Agency offices at Hulman Field.

During her 17 years at the Department of Public Safety Communications, Chelsea Blake has handled various roles, but her recent efforts to talk an injured man through driving himself to the hospital, earned her unprecedented judicial praise.
