Primary Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager and Executive Director, to receive and process 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency calls from the public using state-of-the-art communication equipment. Each call taker gathers, classifies and supplements essential information from the caller and enters it into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
Essential Functions
- Promptly answers all incoming 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls, collects pertinent information from the caller, enters the required information into the Computer Aided Dispatch System.
- Provides Emergency Medical, Fire & Police Dispatch services to callers with emergencies as needed.

The newly created Albany County Crisis Officials Responding and Diverting (ACCORD) program designed to improve outcomes for nonviolent emergency calls into County dispatch is rolling out Friday as a pilot program in the Hilltowns. The initiative is a multi-agency partnership that will team up County social workers and paramedics to provide an appropriate response unit for those in need of assistance where a law enforcement presence is unnecessary.
