Aug. 20—LA GRANDE — A new public safety building may be in the future for Union County.

Union County Sheriff Cody Bowen told the Union County Board of Commissioners Wednesday, Aug. 18, that he wanted to have his office put out a request for proposals to get a design firm to come in and develop a conceptual plan for a new public safety building. The commissioners, ultimately, gave Bowen the green light to proceed.

The sheriff’s office will now begin an exploratory process for determining how a new public safety building could be built. Bowen will later report the findings to the commissioners…

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A call to REMSA Dispatch from an elderly man who has fallen.

“Ok now listen carefully. Help is on the way for you. Stay on the line and I’m going to tell you exactly what to do next. Ok, do not move unless you are in danger. Don’t splint any injuries. Do not have anything to eat or drink. It might make you sick or cause further problems. Ok?” says the dispatcher. The dispatcher stays on the phone with the caller until paramedics arrive.

CCSO hiring now to fill urgent vacancies (SC)

The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is having the same staff shortage woes as other law enforcement agencies nationwide and is hiring, especially for 911-dispatchers.
The sheriff’s office is holding a job fair on Monday, August 30th.
On this day, dispatcher interviews will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, interviews for detention officers will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and interviews for deputies will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The lack of dispatchers is at a crucial low.
According to Colleton County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Shalane Lowes, the sheriff’s office currently has 12 dispatcher slots available. Dispatchers are the 911-operators in the countywide emergency intake center…
