Polk County residents can create new online health profiles to aid 911 dispatchers (IA)

Polk County’s Joint 911 Board has selected a new emergency health profile system to aid dispatchers and first responders. The board voted to replace SMART911 and begin the use of the RapidSOS service.

The new profile system can share real-time personal health and location information during emergencies.

Information from the profile allows emergency personnel to see details such as name, date of birth, address, pre-existing conditions, allergies, medical notes, COVID-19 symptoms and emergency contacts…

BROWN COUNTY – Dispatchers, operators, telecommunicators, headset heroes – whatever the title, these individuals are behind the scenes deciphering situations, reaching out to first responders in the field and possibly initiating emergency measures for the person on the other line.
They are the first voice callers hear during an emergency call – making quick decisions every day that can help save a life.
And those efforts haven’t gone unnoticed.

WPD celebrates its dispatching team (TX)

The Waxahachie Police Department honored its team of dispatchers as part of Telecommunicators Week held April 10-16. The team of 17 answers tens of thousands of calls annually assisting residents in emergency and non-emergency situations.

Waxahachie Assistant Police Chief Joe Wiser said he couldn’t be prouder of the work done daily by the team.

After encrypting radio channels, Sheriff’s Dept rolls out page showing what calls deputies are handling (CA)

Three months after the Sheriff’s Department encrypted its radio communications, the department last week rolled out a online page that shows what calls deputies are handling.

The department said the page allows transparency by providing information to the public without disclosing people’s personal information.

One critic who previously relied on scanners to track law enforcement activity said the information on the page is limited, but it’s better than no information at all…
