CINCINNATI — The City of Cincinnati will launch a six-month pilot program that will send unarmed mental health and medical personnel to emergency calls for nonviolent and mental health crises.

A wage increase for emergency communications staff has found favor with the Lyon County Commission.
During the board’s weekly meeting, Lyon County Emergency Communications Director Roxanne Van Gundy submitted a request for a pay increase for full-time communications officers. Van Gundy is seeking a $1 increase to bring starting wages from $16.90 to $17.90 with an additional 50 cent increase upon completion of training bringing the total wage to $18.40…

When you’re in an emergency, 911 is supposed to be there to take your call and get you help quickly.
An Action News Jax investigation reveals the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office 911 call center has failed to meet the state recommendations for answering 911 calls quickly.
The state says a 911 call should be answered within 10 seconds, but last month, JSO says the average ring time was nearly double that.
