Public safety is calling the FCC’s 4.9 decision a major win

In a unanimous, bipartisan, 4-0 decision, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is bolstering public safety’s use of the historically underutilized 4.9 GHz spectrum band. The new rules safeguard incumbent operations, establish a process to select a band manager, and make the spectrum available to the FirstNet Authority for 5G deployment on the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (FirstNet).

Tucson Fire Department Partners with Others to Enhance 911 Patient Care (AZ)

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — The Tucson Fire Department (TFD) has announced a new partnership with the Public Safety Communications Department (PSCD) and MD Ally telehealth to improve patient care within the 911 system.This collaboration aims to utilize advanced telehealth technology to ensure timely medical assistance and enhance the effectiveness of emergency response.During a press conference, representatives from TFD, PSCD, and MD Ally will discuss how the initiative enables emergency operators to connect patients with medical professionals in real time. This connection facilitates immediate assessments and aims to reduce wait times for medical care.The integration of PSCD’s expertise is expected to further enhance coordination and communication among all emergency response parties, improving overall service to the community.
