Mississippi 911 dispatcher doesn’t let disability define him (MS)

No matter the size of a man, he’ll always start off with big dreams for the life ahead of him. As he should. As we all should.

Alan “Trey” Henderson was just such a boy — he knew exactly what he wanted to do since he was 12 years old. The thought of being an emergency dispatcher kept him focused on the future, and no disability was going to stop him from finding a way to make his dream a reality.

Henderson suffers from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly referred to as Brittle Bone Disease. In his more than two decades of life, Henderson has dealt with almost 80 broken bones and three surgeries. “The original call I believe came in for difficulty breathing and then he went unresponsive,” Taryn Hayes said…

Staffing shortages at 911 call centers in Denver leads to longer wait times (CO)

The 911 communication centers in the Denver metro responsible for taking emergency calls and dispatching police, firefighters and paramedics are struggling to recruit and retain workers amid a tight labor market that has made hiring difficult in many industries, leaders of five of the area’s largest centers said.

The lack of workers means 911 callers in many of Denver’s largest communities are waiting longer before connecting with a call taker, thus delaying the arrival of help. Leaders from four of the five agencies, which cover a broad swath of the metro area, said wait times have increased in 2021 due to a lack of employees…

Today’s Court Ruling Gives Gusciora Administration, City Council More Time to Evaluate Alternative Solutions

October 29, 2021

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–The City of Trenton and its radio service provider, MPS Communications, have consented to an injunction halting shutoff off the city’s radio system until Dec. 31, 2021, Mayor W. Reed Gusciora announced today.

N.J. Superior Court Judge Robert T. Lougy granted the order following a status conference earlier this afternoon.
