WATERTOWN — Prior to going into the Jefferson County Dispatch Center and being the “first, first-responders,” six remarkable women hold a briefing every day to discuss any major events that had happened during the previous shift. The main topic of conversation on Feb. 28 centered around a structure fire on Winslow Street earlier in the morning.
The fire at 122 Winslow St. was called in shortly before 11 a.m. It is alleged that Khane O. Jones doused Joshua R. Jones in gasoline and lit him on fire. According to an affidavit filed in Watertown City Court, this caused Joshua Jones to be flown to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, with life-threatening injuries and burns. He remains in critical condition…

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A Bosque County woman has been arrested after calling over 50 times Bosque County Dispatch in non-emergencies calls.
Bridget Nicole Beard made the calls March 19 to dispatch and would not speak when asked if there was an emergency.
Bosque County Sheriff’s Office communications personnel and deputies were able to locate Beard who used a cell phone to make the calls on Norway Street in Walnut Springs.
Deputies determined that no emergency existed…

Law enforcement agencies throughout Mohave County could get more than a half-million dollars in upgrades this year, with the help of state grant funding.
The Mohave County Board of Supervisors is scheduled today to vote on a modified 911 operations budget for the 2022 fiscal year. The $587,698 increase would cover the costs of upgrading emergency dispatch systems used by county law enforcement, as well as by the Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and Kingman Police Departments – and the Colorado City Marshal’s Office…

A person calling 911 during an emergency may be too excited and may not be clear when talking to a dispatcher about where to send help. Or they may just need some reassurance that help is on the way.
Recently, the Warren County Communications Center launched a text messaging service to keep callers updated on the status of their emergency and a number to call for followup or other information.
Melissa Bour, Warren County Communications Center director, said when someone is having an emergency, that person may not be thinking clearly. However, if they see a text message, they can see it and call the number to clarify the emergency information… READ MORE

MADISON CO., Ala. (WAFF) – We know it’s been a struggle for many businesses to build back employees as we’re moving out of the pandemic, but for some professions, the need is more critical than others.
The Madison County 911 center has been working to hire more dispatchers for months. The director for the center wants to stress that although they are shorthanded right now, 911 calls are getting answered.
He is hoping to cut down on the ring times, and get more people to join the team. He describes the center as a positive, family environment with great insurance benefits. And says the pay rate is competitive and they are considering bumping it up higher… READ MORE
