Every cellphone and land line in New Jersey is charged a 90-cent monthly fee that is supposed to fund 911 services in New Jersey, but instead the state has been diverting it for its own use since 2009, according to county officials.
And in spite of the state being flush with billions in federal COVID-19 funding, borrowed money and record tax revenues, Gov. Phil Murphy’s fiscal year 2023 budget still keeps this year’s $126 million in fees, said New Jersey Association of Counties Executive Director John Donnadio.

Arlington County’s public safety agencies have come together to organize participation in the relief efforts for Ukraine.
The County’s Fire Department, Police Department, Sheriff’s Office, and Department of Public Safety Communications & Emergency Management are donating equipment, medical supplies, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to first responders in Ukraine.
For this initiative, Arlington is coordinating with United Help Ukraine, a grassroots, entirely volunteer-based organization that will handle the shipping of the donated goods, including 200,000 disposable gowns, 9,000 Particulate Respirator N95s, 19,000 latex gloves, more than 100 ballistic vests, 150 sets of firefighting gear and breathing apparatus, and two pallets of firefighting hand tools…

A telecommunicator, also known as a dispatcher, is the person you likely encounter first in an emergency after calling 9-1-1. They’re behind the scenes deciphering the situation, reaching out to first responders in the field and possibly initiating emergency measures for the person on the other line.

BOZEMAN – More calls are being made to 911 and Gallatin County Dispatch has been answering those calls. An influx of new population and more tourism has meant more calls are coming in, sometimes on purpose or even on accident.
“We wanted the community to see what we are doing and what accomplishments we had and how we are being good stewards of the tax dollars,” says Tim Martindale, director of Gallatin County 911.
