Sugar Land dispatcher named training professional of the year (TX)

Sugar Land Public Safety Dispatcher Amanda Davis was recently named the 2021 Training Professional of the Year by the Texas National Emergency Number Association.

Davis created and implemented an extensive training program for her fellow dispatchers. It consists of a “Weekly Training Minute,” a weekly email on relevant, daily topics for dispatchers.

PUEBLO — It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and this week is all about highlighting 911 dispatchers, their work and their dedication to serving our community. Plus, during a week that’s been especially busy because of wildfires, their jobs, have gotten that much more challenging.

There’s a team of 15 dispatchers at the Pueblo Police Department. Since April 1, they have taken calls for 16 wildfires in which the fire department has responded to. It’s more than average during this time of year.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – For National Telecommunicators Week, the Alaska State Troopers are acknowledging our local 911 dispatchers, who assist in saving so many lives every day.

In 1994, President Bill Clinton signed Presidential Proclamation 6667 to designate the second week of April as National Telecommunicators week.

911 can be a scary number to have to call, but it helps in knowing there are calm and caring voices on the other end of the line.

Dispatchers are available 365 days a year, 24 hours of the day – and on average, dispatchers take 125,000 calls over 911 every year…
