MARSHALL, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Consolidated Dispatch Authority of Calhoun County, which manages dispatch services for Police, Fire, and EMS agencies in the county, has a millage request on the ballot on August 2.
The request for .98 mils over a 10-year levy would result in a significant investment in countywide 911 services and would provide dedicated funding for the operation of the consolidated 911 center in Calhoun County.

Of the 13 community members who submitted public comments about the possibility of Lakewood outsourcing its police dispatch center at the June 6 City Council meeting, none of them supported Mayor Meghan George’s plan.
Mayor George opened this portion of the city council meeting by stating that Cuyahoga County began financially penalizing Lakewood last year because Lakewood continues to run its own emergency dispatch center, in what the county believes is a violation of Section 128.571 of the Ohio Revised Code.

Perquimans County’s 911 Communications Center has been named the top 911 emergency communications center in North Carolina for 2022.
The center was presented the N.C. Communications Center of the Year award by the North Carolina National Emergency Numbers Association during last month’s N.C. Public Safety Communications Conference in Wilmington.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — As summer activities ramp up, some are concerned about first responders’ ability to handle an increase in calls.
“Public safety is at a crisis here,” said Beth Fulks, a former 911 operator.
For years, Fulks was the voice at the other end of residents’ 911 calls, but on Monday, she became one of the more than three dozen employees who have left the Wake-Raleigh Emergency Communications Center since April 2021.
