The graduates of class 20 received 160 hours of instruction over four weeks, according to a release by KSP. Major training areas include legal liability, limits of telecommunicator authority, telecommunicator’s role in public safety, interpersonal communications, customer service, combating stress, ethics and confidentiality, responder safety, basic fire dispatch, state emergency operation plans, criminal justice information systems, first aid training, emergency medical dispatch and special needs callers.

Mountrail County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center is using new technology that can make a massive difference for residents in the county. The enhanced programs they are using is coming at no cost to the county while providing major updates to how emergency calls can be handled.

Mountrail County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch became RapidSOS Ready in June of this year.

When panic ensued at Highland Park’s July 4 parade, Glenview Public Safety Dispatch telecommunicators were among the first to answer those many 911 calls reporting a mass shooter on a rooftop, firing at parade onlookers below.

The village of Glenview maintains two dispatch facilities: its north dispatch center in Highland Park and south facility in the Glenview Municipal Complex, dispatching calls to police and fire departments in 14 communities, including Highland Park police and fire.

House committee approves bill with $10 billion for NG911

Members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee today voted unanimously to send a bill to the House floor that would extend the FCC’s spectrum-auction authority and dedicate $10 billion from a future auction to fund emergency call centers’ transition to IP-based, next-generation 911 (NG911) technology.

Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.), chairman of the committee, noted that H.R. 7624—the “Spectrum Innovation Act of 2022”—continues to require the FCC to auction at least 200 MHz of spectrum in the 3.1-3.45 GHz band. Proceeds from this auction would fill the funding gap in the “rip-and-replace” initiative to rid U.S. networks of gear from China-based firms and would provide NG911 funding nationwide.

SIGNING OFF: Longtime emergency dispatcher steps down, heads to work for county commissioners (IN)

HANCOCK COUNTY — It wasn’t a day she was looking forward to but it ended with a celebration cake, plenty of phone calls, hugs and lots of smiles. After 22 years as an emergency dispatcher, including the last 13 in Hancock County, Cindy Carver retired from the local 9-1-1 emergency service at the beginning of the month.

Carver, 53, Greenfield, however will still be around the community.

The platform, known as DataScape, will be customized to meet the county’s needs, including integrating data from multiple, disparate sources into a central data lake and helping the ECC analyze 911 performance trends.
