Morgan County’s 911 Emergency Telecommunications has filed a formal complaint with the West Virginia Public Service Commission against Frontier West Virginia, Inc. about frequent phone outages in the Paw Paw exchange area.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) is the state agency that regulates the operations of utilities, including phone companies.
Frontier Communications owns and operates the primary telephone lines in our area, including phone lines for the county’s 911 system.

Aquinnah’s newest resident was delivered at 11:48 p.m. on Sept. 1 as his parents Kyle Colter and Sophia Welch were on the phone with emergency dispatch. The mother and child were soon after brought to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, where Aquinnah town administrator Jeffrey Madison said they were resting and doing well. Ms. Welch is Mr. Madison’s assistant in town hall.

The Central Council of the Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska is now working with Everbridge, a leader in critical communications, to provide tribal citizens with emergency communication before, during and after a critical event.
According to a press release, the Everbridge emergency notification system will be used as the tribe’s primary critical event management technology platform to provide emergency and non-emergency communication, comprehensive assessment and response to community incidents.
