Meriden’s continues to struggle in hiring emergency dispatchers – (CT)

MERIDEN — The Emergency Communications Center continues to be understaffed, an issue that now has been ongoing for more than two years.

As of Tuesday the center, which handles all emergency police, fire and medical calls throughout the city, was staffed by six full-time dispatchers, along with three part-time dispatchers and four full-time trainees.

Those dispatchers have been supplemented by seven city firefighters and one police officer who assist in providing emergency dispatch duties.

John Stuermer To Retire From 911 Center – (TN)

John Stuermer, who has been the executive director of the Hamilton County 9-1-1 Emergency Communications District since 2004, has announced his intention to retire, effective Dec. 13. The District’s Board of Directors chose the current operations director, Jeff Carney, to serve as acting executive director, starting Dec. 1, while a search is conducted to select a permanent executive director.
