MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Through an open records request, CBS 58 has obtained police communications that suggest a 20-minute delay in the search for 25-year-old Khalilah Brister and her seven-year-old daughter Tyrielle Jefferson.
A pilot program that sends a non-police team to some emergency calls is entering its final stage, but officials say there’s enough need to make it permanent.
On the morning of Oct. 12, a contractor hired by the FDNY entered a basement data storage area in the agency’s emergency dispatch center, in downtown Brooklyn.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Nash County Emergency Management, who shortly afterward began dispatching 9-1-1 calls, allowing Rocky Mount Police personnel to speak with Crisis Health professionals during this challenging time, and to the North Carolina Highway Patrol for leading the investigation,” said Police Chief Robert Hassell.
