Bellmead Communications Operator Kelsey Smith and Waco Police
Department Communications Operators Michael Blohm and Kim Thomas were
presented with Lifesaving Awards at Tuesday night’s city council for
their actions in handling an emergency call.
Bellmead police spokeswoman Lt. Brenda Kinsey says on the night of July 10, a man called 911 in hysterics, screaming for help.
Smith was first to take the call.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) — When people think of first responders, the first people who come to mind are generally the firefighters, EMS, and police.
The Kanawha County Commission recognized Metro 911 dispatchers for their dedication and hard work.
But Thursday night, Kanawha County commissioners wanted to
remind people that those people who we never see on an emergency scene
also share that title.
A proclamation recognizing Metro 911 dispatchers
as first responders was a chance to put a spotlight on the men and women
who stay calm when life can be scary and hectic for the person on the
other end of the phone.

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Students
were invited to the 20th annual 9-1-1 Awareness Day at the Public Safety
Complex, where they learned how serious dialing 9-1-1 is.
“We
want them to understand what happens when you call 9-1-1, what we expect
as far as the kind of questions and answers,” said Joe Thomas, the
director of the Sussex County Operations Center.

VALPARAISO — Anthony Stua has been preparing for this day for the past few weeks.
As
the new Director of Communications for Porter County Central
Communications 911, Stua was ready Tuesday morning when all law
enforcement agencies migrated to the new 700MHz system.
“I’m very appreciative and proud to be a part of Porter County as well as the 911 center and help us to make some strides toward the future,” Stua said.

After a four-month nationwide search, Tim Martindale has been named the new 911 director for Gallatin County.
Martindale
has more than 14 years of experience in 911 communications. He started
his career as a dispatcher for Pacific County Communications in
Washington state, and worked his way up to the director’s position.

The proposed 2020 Sarnia police budget calls for a 7.1 per cent increase over 2019.
A $25,547,351 operating draft, presented to the police services board
Thursday morning, includes $339,533 for four new officers that would
raise the uniform complement to 115.
Chief Norm Hansen said the proposed increase is also directly related
to federal legislation requiring that all municipalities implement the
