QUINCY, IL — In an eight to three vote, the City of Quincy/Adams County Emergency Telephone Systems Board decided to erase the “interim’ director from Jessica Douglas’s title.
Douglas is now the official 9-1-1 Director, and her position is effective immediately.
This comes after a lengthy executive session at Wednesday night’s meeting.

On Monday, she said she went into labor around 3:30 a.m. after the placenta prematurely separated from her uterus.
“I had no idea they were coming so soon. Blayne got on the phone and the dispatcher told him, ‘you’re going to be delivering these babies,'” said Brianna Springer.
Springer’s fiancé, Blayne Guest, called 911 and a dispatcher gave him clear instructions. CCSO Communication Officer Phillip Stuart received the call.

“For me, it’s how much they do besides just take calls, they do a whole lot more,” said student Michelle Rehwalt. “They talk to the officers, they track everybody, and if the machines go down and they have to do it all by hand, it’s just incredible the stuff that they do.”

Brown County – After more than two decade of being the calming voice on the other end of 911, the long-time Brown County Public Safety Communications police and fire dispatcher Tina Wiegert recently hung up her headset, retiring after 23 years.
