Washington County plans to hire six full-time 911 dispatchers, possibly by February, to help an emergency communications staff that has logged hundreds of hours of overtime in the past year, the dispatch center’s operations manager said.
The county also is taking steps to help with supervisor shifts, which now require overtime when someone is on leave, said Brian Albert, operations manager for the 911 center.
The goal is to get 12 people per shift at the dispatch center…

City councilors will hear an update on the administration of the tax during a Monday work session. The city didn’t provide any details in the staff report that went out ahead of the meeting.
The tax, which the City Council approved in June, is projected to initially raise $23.6 million in year. Two-thirds of the money will go to law enforcement, with the remaining money being split among the municipal court, the fire department and homeless programs.

United States District Judge William Martinez has denied the Board of County Commissioners’ motion to dismiss Nicole Garner’s, Maria Chavez’ and Chelsa Parsons’ civil lawsuit against Lake County Government.
The women, all of whom worked as dispatchers under former Sheriff Rod Fenske and Undersheriff Fernando Mendoza, are suing the county for unlawful sex discrimination, retaliation and violations of rights to free speech and equal protection under the First and Fourteenth Amendments.

An ambulance service where three staff have died of suspected suicide in two weeks has been accused of a toxic culture.
Ambulance dispatcher Luke Wright, 24, and paramedics Christopher Gill and Richard Grimes were found dead between November 11 and November 21.
Shortly before their deaths a whistleblower wrote to the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust’s boss complaining about psychological abuse.
