4 Hampshire 911 center employees test positive for COVID-19 (WV)

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Four employees of the Hampshire County 911 Center have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office said the tests were administered May 22-31.

Chief Deputy Nathan J. Sions said one 911 center employee tested negative during the same time frame.

Two half-cent sales tax measures for public safety approved (MO)

Two separate half-cent sales tax measures — one for the city of Neosho and one for all of Newton County — both succeeded at the polls Tuesday, according to complete but unofficial election results. Neosho city voters approved a half-cent sales tax for funding the city’s police and fire departments with a votes of 1,342 to 626, an approval rate of 68.19%. It is hoped to raise almost $1.3 million annually.

Newton County voters also approved a separate half-cent sales tax to fund services related to dispatching emergency calls and other emergency services, 4,501 to 2,422, passing with 65% approval. It is expected to raise almost $3.6 million annually.

Scotts Bluff County approves major 911 upgrade (NE)

With a unanimous vote of the Scotts County Board, the county will take a major step forward in allowing 911 dispatchers to provide more assistance when emergency medical calls come in.

Since the county’s 911 communications center came into existence, 911 dispatchers have been using “guide cards” for medical dispatch. Each card outlines symptoms of various medical emergencies so the dispatcher can ask the right questions about the person’s condition…
