Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center buries time capsule (MA)

The Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center buried a time capsule on June 12 in the HRECC’s new building, to be opened by staff members in 30 years, Director Steve Hooke recently said.

Members of the HRECC added items to the time capsule, which then was sealed behind one of the walls at the site of the new facility.

Some of the items in the capsule include the HRECC’s most recent development grant application, a current departmental budget, an HRECC patch and patches of all partner agencies, business cards, photos of the current center and the construction of the new center, the current HRECC staff roster…

NENA Cancels 2020 In-Person Annual Conference, Announces Virtual Event

NENA announced today that it has cancelled its in-person 2020 Annual Conference & Expo and is replacing it with an online event due to public-health and safety concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The face-to-face event was originally scheduled to be held in June in Long Beach, California, before being postponed to September. Communications director urges residents to not hesitate to call 911 (NE)

Determining when its appropriate to call 9-1-1 can be challenging at any time, but with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, people seem to be even more uncertain.

New 9-1-1 call technology comes to Virginia (VA)

The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) announced in a release that its Integrated Services Program (ISP), in coordination with Fairfax County Public Safety, has launched Next Generation 9-1-1.
