LINCOLNVILLE – At 10:07 a.m., January 16, 2022, Knox Regional Communications Center Dispatcher Tracie Webster received a call for a woman in active labor. She initiated emergency protocols and toned North East Mobile Health Services, the ambulance company that covers Lincolnville. Robyn Jones was is the process of giving birth, and her husband, Ralph, was asking for assistance.
Earlier in the morning, Robyn and Ralph were gearing up for the birth of their baby. They live in Lincolnville Center, and the hospital is 20 minutes away.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 7, 2022) –Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Tuesday, March 8, in honor of a Kentucky State Police (KSP) telecommunicator who died Sunday, Feb. 27.
Police Telecommunicator II Charles “Chuck” Stewart Jr. died after suffering a heart attack while on duty at KSP Post 4. Funeral services will be held at Southeast Christian Church in Elizabethtown Tuesday. Stewart served the commonwealth as telecommunicator for 34 years, of which 19 years were with KSP. He also previously served for many years as a volunteer firefighter with Central Hardin Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to KSP’s Shop with a Trooper program… READ MORE

DUBLIN, Ohio (WSYX) —Monday, 911 telecommunicators and members of Hilliard Police were honored by the Kyle Plush Answer the Call Foundation.
The foundation was started by the Plush family in 2018. Kyle Plush, a Cincinnati teen, died after getting trapped in their family van. He made two 911 calls, but the police did not locate him.
911 call takers are the first voice you hear during an emergency.

PALM BAY, Fla. — They are the eyes and ears for first responders, connecting them with the public needing help, while keeping safe — the demand for 911 dispatchers is growing, and one Space Coast department needs more of them now.
It’s time for Officer Matthew Harris of the Palm Bay Police Department to gear up for patrol.
Harris, who is a a SWAT team member and recovery team diver, has been on the force for two years.

As of March 17, all smartphones sold in the European Union must be leveraging Galileo signals in addition to other GNSS for calls to the European 112 (E112) emergency number.
Using Galileo enhances pinpointing locations of 112 calls in Europe, resulting in faster response times and more lives saved, according to the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA).
