NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Who is going to respond when you call 911? It might not be who you think for people in the metro area. The city is working on a new response to certain calls that do not include a law enforcement response. This is still in the very early planning phases, and it is expected to roll out in early 2023.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Ingleside resident Riley Johnston is seeking answers after he said his multiple 911 calls went unanswered Sunday afternoon.
Riley said he feared the worst after his his wife, Helen, started feeling sick. He said he called 911, but could never get through.
“I called there and I never got to contact them,” he said. “I just got a busy signal.”
Johnston said he decided to drive Helen to the ambulance station a few blocks away from their home.
Helen’s blood pressure was high, and had to be transported to a hospital in Corpus Christi…

The city of Ottawa recognized Stacey Fuentes and Chandler Koepke as Telecommunicators of the Year as part of its annual celebration of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
Commissioner James Less said the winner of the award was decided via a vote among all of the city’s 911 operators and the office was split between Fuentes and Koepke. It was then decided both were deserving of the award… READ MORE

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Davidson County leaders are considering changes to the dispatcher training academy to get new hires on the floor faster in the 911 center.Currently, the county has between four to five employees taking calls on each shift. County Manager Casey Smith told FOX8 that ideally, there would be eight.
“It is low. There’s no doubt it is low,” he said Tuesday. “We are taking the issue very seriously in terms of the staffing.”
