Grant Co. in final stages of move to new 911 Center (WI)

LANCASTER, Wis. (WMTV) – The Grant County Communications Center is in its final stage of moving to their new building.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday the new 911 Center has gone through several years of planning and construction.

Cress named Chief of Rowan County Emergency Services (NC)

Allen Cress has been selected to be the Rowan County Chief of Emergency Services. Cress has 38 years of experience in public safety. He has served 26 years as a full-time Rowan County employee with the last five years serving as the 9-1-1 Chief. Countywide sales tax gets nod from voters (OH)

A sales tax proposed by the Athens County Commissioners was approved by Athens County voters during Tuesday’s election, according to the unofficial results released on Election Night.

Athens County Commissioner Charlie Adkins noted in July that it’s the same percentage, just all the funds will be directed toward the 9-1-1 office. Last year’s levy was split: 50 percent was for 9-1-1, a quarter was for the county’s general fund and the last quarter would have gone to the sheriff’s office.

Athens County 9-1-1 dispatchers handle, on average, about 96,000 calls a year. The offices’s other funding sources are direct charges from agencies within the county for contracted services and the Government Assistance Wireless Program, with a total operating budget of $2.3 million during 2020… READ MORE

Prince William County announces Smart911 service for emergency calls (VA)

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WDVM) — Prince William County public safety officials have announced a new app that will allow individuals to provide information to 9-1-1 operators. 

The service, called “smart 9-1-1”, allows residents to make a free account, where they can contribute relevant information to help first responders during an emergency.
