Greenwich police chief calls retiring communications specialist the ‘heart and soul’ of department (CT)

GREENWICH — A police officer who specialized in communications and who helped to implement the town’s 911 emergency dispatcher center has retired after a 32-year career in law enforcement.

Officer Gerald “Terry” Fitzgerald, who retired earlier this month, was tasked with implementing new advances to the Greenwich Police Department’s emergency communications network in 2010. According to the department, Fitzgerald was designated the communications officer and assigned responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the emergency radio system. Shawnee County set to hold Dispatch hiring event (MO)

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Shawnee County Communications is hiring!

They will hold a dispatcher hiring event Friday, July 16th at the Law Enforcement Center located at 320 S. Kansas Ave.

The family-friendly event will run from 5-8 p.m. and include food trucks and live entertainment.

Personnel and vehicles from the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, Topeka Police Department, and Topeka Fire Department will also be on hand to answer any questions.

Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office PSAP 911 Communications Division achieves certification (MN)

All Beltrami County Communications Officers have been trained and certified in Telephone CPR (referred to as TCPR) enhancing their instruction prior to the arrival of first responders and medical services. The training provided the skills to rapidly detect the need for CPR and how to instruct citizens in performing CPR. Legislation in 2019 required Minnesota Public Safety Answering Points (911 centers) to establish a protocol by July 1st, 2021 to provide a minimum level of instruction for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when callers who are not trained in CPR are reporting an out of hospital cardiac arrest.

Beatrice-based 911 center adding Richardson County, to coverage area (NE)

BEATRICE – Richardson County in southeast Nebraska is becoming a member of the Southeast Communications 911 Dispatch service area.


The Beatrice City Council approved a plan for the computer-aided dispatch center based at the Beatrice Police Department to serve the county located in the southeast corner of the state. Richardson County will pay a fee of $180,000 in the first year of a three-year agreement, approved on a 6-0 vote by the council.


Chief of Beatrice Police, Bruce Lang says the arrangement should be mutually beneficial. He says Richardson County benefits by getting good service and being able to share resources that might not otherwise be affordable. Pennington County 911, law enforcement agencies holding job fair (SD)

RAPID CITY, S.D. — If you’ve ever considered a career in law enforcement and public safety, there’s no better time to make the jump.
