Borrowing plan for 911 reaches county council this month

WILKES-BARRE — A plan to borrow tens of millions of dollars to pay for upgrades to the Luzerne County 911 communication system will come before county council this month.

The plan will be discussed Tuesday at a council work session, and could be on council’s voting agenda in two weeks, according to county Manager David Pedri.

County leaders have said for years the borrowing would be needed to pay for a digital communication system for the county 911 communications center.
