Santa Barbara County supervisors to consider law, fire dispatch separation Tuesday

An analysis of options for separating law enforcement and fire protection dispatch services will be considered by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors when it meets Tuesday in Santa Barbara.

Separating the services would allow law enforcement dispatchers to concentrate on that aspect and would provide all the county’s fire agencies, which already cooperate extensively with a single dispatch service able to coordinate various departments.

Wooster, Orrville, Wayne County stop exploring countywide dispatch center

WOOSTER — Elected officials from Wooster, Orrville and Wayne County said Friday they are ending discussions about forming a countywide emergency dispatch center after determining that combining 911 services would not save money.

Mayors from both cities and the Wayne County commissioners concluded that creating a joint dispatch center would result in higher operational costs, estimated between $100,000 and $150,000 a year, they said in a prepared statement. The officials have been exploring the possibility since June 2018.

Berkeley Heights Considering Partnering with County Dispatch Center for Emergency Calls

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ – The township is considering a shared services agreement with Union County to provide dispatch services for first responders.

In a presentation to the Township Council at their September 24 meeting, Berkeley Heights Police Chief John DiPasquale explained the agreement and how it would benefit the township and its residents.

Glick celebrates first responders, new tech at ceremony

CHEYENNE – A truck providing improved communications for first responders in rural areas will be available to all Wyoming law enforcement agencies that opt into a new program.

The vehicle was on the scene during a proclamation ceremony recognizing first responders Friday afternoon at the state Capitol.

“What this is going to allow us to do in Laramie County is we can all be on a singular device and operate in unison,” Laramie County Sheriff Danny Glick said after the ceremony.

How this 911 system is helping Butler County dispatchers find emergencies faster

BUTLER COUNTY — 

When a Middletown 911 dispatcher recently answered an emergency call, the elderly woman was unable to give her address. The woman, who said she was having difficulty breathing, kept repeating her address number, but not the street.

The dispatcher asked the woman if there was a piece of mail with her address, but she couldn’t locate her glasses.
