City of Helena requesting information for implementation of an NG9-1-1 compatible call system

HELENA- The city of Helena looking for information for the implementation of an NG9-1-1 compatible call system after being awarded funding from the State of Montana’s 9-1-1 Grant Program.

In May of 2019, the City of Helena was granted $470,000 for use on their Motorola Call Works System, which, according to the city’s Request for Information, is what they currently use for their Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).

Fire and Medical 9-1-1 Dispatch Splitting from Sheriff


All five Santa Barbara County supervisors voted on Tuesday to separate fire and medical dispatch operations from the Sheriff’s Office, capping a two-year effort by fire chiefs to run their own emergency communications center and highlighting the longstanding rift between the public safety entities. The vote also started the process of expanding the county’s existing Emergency Operations Center on Cathedral Oaks Road to accommodate the new fire/medical dispatch facility. Construction is estimated to cost $10.4 million with an annual budget of $2.5 million.

Dispatchers do more than answer emergency calls

Here’s a little more about us in the dispatch center in Boulder City. We have eight dispatchers (at last) for the city that are full time and one part time. At this time, two are scheduled at a time for 12-hour shifts. With sickness, training, vacation and other issues we are commonly staffed with only one.

These one or two dispatchers are responsible for six phone lines, two 911 lines, data entry from calls and officers, front lobby calls, police, fire and medical radio traffic, after-hours electrical, water, sewer, parks, roadway and facility issues.

We have a minimum of 18 digital programs to monitor. We accept bail and give vehicle releases for vehicles towed.

City of Trussville hiring for dispatcher position

TRUSSVILLE — The city of Trussville has posted its first job opening since separating from the Jefferson County Personnel Board.

The city is looking to fill the position of Public Safety Dispatcher II, according to Mayor Buddy Choat.

“We took our own job descriptions and posted it and it’s the first one we’ve done without the Jefferson County Personnel Board,” said Choat.

Southwest Florida Police Dispatcher Suspended After Admitting to Telling Person to ‘Get Rid’ of Evidence in Case

A dispatcher with a Southwest Florida sheriff’s office has been suspended for two days after admitting to telling a 911 caller to “get rid of it” when refereeing to evidence that later turned out to be marijuana.

NBC affiliate WBBH-TV reports that Lee County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher Amanda Kinzler will be suspended both Wednesday and Thursday as well as be on probation for six months after the August 18th incident.
