Pam Hickey retires from E-911 after 27 years of service (TN)

Pam Hickey spent the last 27 years answering the calls of White County residents who found themselves in an emergency situation, and she said she has loved every minute of it.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute of the 27 and a half years of doing this job,” Hickey, who is retiring from her position as a White County E911 dispatcher, said. “I’ve had good days and bad days, but I’ve just loved it.”

Hickey said she often felt like she might have been cheating just a little. After having worked at a series of sewing factories for 25 years, Hickey said that taking the job as an E-911 dispatcher, in 1993, brought a lot of meaning and fulfillment to her life…
