BONNERS FERRY — According to county records, Boundary County commissioners approved $30,000 in spending to acquire a remote dispatch system amid COVID-19 concerns.
A remote dispatch system’s approval occurred on Nov. 1 at a board of commissioners meeting due to recent infections to staff.
According to the report, “there are dispatchers out with COVID, and there is concern that if the current dispatch site needs to be closed down due to the virus, there needs to be a backup site”…

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Pa. — With the dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases in the county over the past few days, the Crawford County Department of Public Safety is making temporary staff changes.
Emergency management, the coroner’s office, and mapping and administrative assistant staff all will work remotely starting Monday, Greg Beveridge, the office’s director, said Friday.

Assemblyman Steve Hawley weighed in on this situation, calling it “shameful” that the state is holding these funds that are “earmarked and due to our counties to be used for public safety locally.”
Hawley said he sent a letter to Gov. Cuomo on Oct. 20 asking him to release all funds for the PSAP Operations and SICG initiatives that were authorized through the 2019-20 fiscal year budget and “ensure that future authorizations are released in full in the budget year they are appropriated”…
