Wood County, Ohio — Monday is the first day of the National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, an event aimed at thanking behind-the-scenes staff to ensure the safety of the public and first responders.

Surrey RCMP telecommunications operators last year talked to more than 305,000 people who called for police service, generating more than 200,000 operational files.
