STRATFORD, CT — Stratford’s public safety dispatchers were honored this past week as part of the National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
Stratford Mayor Laura Hoydick recognized the Stratford Public Safety Communications Center’s staff by releasing an official proclamation.
“Our Public Safety Telecommunicators are the front lines of our public safety network,” Hoydick said..
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing 24-hour emergency communications services.
This entails receiving and evaluating incoming emergency and administrative phone calls for emergency services including but not limited to police, fire, animal control and emergency medical services (EMS), triaging and dispatching those requests for service to the appropriate responders.
The specialists monitor the safety of citizens and responders, making outgoing calls and notifications as necessary and collecting the disseminating necessary information…
