Carrie Napiorkowski was in her home off Fitzhugh Road in Dripping Springs on the Monday before Thanksgiving when the unthinkable happened.

A contractor and longtime family friend, Rene Gaytan, was working on the roof of Napiorkowski’s home when he fell and suffered fatal injuries.

Napiorkowski’s husband immediately called 911 and they both administered CPR while on the phone with the operator.

But when first responders arrived 16 minutes later, it was too late…

But while police and firefighters may have an opportunity to possibly enjoy some family time during the holiday, the dispatchers must remain at the 911 Center from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. ready to answer any emergency call…

County to discuss terminating dispatch agreement with Oelwein (IA)

Terminating the emergency services dispatch agreement between Fayette County and the city of Oelwein will be up for discussion and possibly a vote at Monday’s Board of Supervisors meeting.

The board’s meeting agenda was released to the public on Tuesday morning this holiday week — it’s generally sent out on Friday. The agenda includes the item “Possible approval of termination of dispatch agreement between Fayette County and the city of Oelwein.”

County emergency dispatch earns re-accreditation (FL)

 

Lake County and the Office of Public Safety Support have been approved for re-accreditation as an Accredited Center of Excellence for emergency dispatching.

The re-accreditation is awarded by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) and is effective for three years. 

“This distinction reflects the dedication of staff in meeting the highest standards of care and practice available for emergency dispatch centers. To receive this re-accreditation, an organization must demonstrate strong local oversight, rigorous quality processes, and a commitment to data-driven, continuous improvements,” according to a Lake County news release…
