ROYALSTON — Royalston’s Selectboard met with representatives of Industrial Communications at its meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 4, to discuss ownership of a communication tower on Warwick Road that currently holds the communications equipment for the town’s police, fire and public works departments. The tower is owned by the Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) and sits on land owned by Elwood Taylor.

The Greene County 911 computer-aided dispatch system should be fully implemented by early March, county 911 Director Jerry Bird said Tuesday.

Certification for communications will be obtained and some technical issues relating to the CAD system conversion are being resolved by the software provider, Bird told the 911 board of directors.

“Everything is going good,” Bird said. “February is what they are shooting for.”

Vendor ID Networks, Inc., is in the process of transferring data such as call records stored in the current system to the new server…

Dispatchers lend hand in St. Thomas, St. Croix (OH)

Regionalism has reached new heights for employees of Chagrin Valley Dispatch.

Last week, a group of seven dispatchers departed for the islands of St. Thomas and St. Croix, both of which have been ravaged by the pandemic and have effectively lost their ability to dispatch their emergency services.

“They are in a state of emergency,” CVD Director and Founder Nick DiCicco, a resident of Solon, explained.

As a result, the state of Ohio reached out to the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials, or APCO, describing the need for assistance, “and we answered the call,” Mr. DiCicco said…
