Cherokee County’s Radio Technology Director recently earned state accolades for his service to E-9-1-1, emergency management, fire and public safety in the county.
Jason Jenkins was presented the Leadership in Service Award at the Georgia Emergency Communications Conference held at The Classic Center in Athens in March.

BALDWIN — In observance of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Toni Jandron with Lake County 911 Central Dispatch was given the distinct honor of Dispatcher of the Year during the Lake County Board of Commissioners meeting last Wednesday.
“Toni was nominated for Dispatcher of the Year by her peers, and selected by members of the 911 Committee. Toni Jandron started working with Lake County 911 Central Dispatch in April of 2018. She began her training program and completed it and began working on the night shift. She is always in a positive mood, and is a team player. Today, the Federal Communications Commission voted to approve a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to seek comment on proposals to bolster the effectiveness of the Wireless Emergency Alerts system. This WEA system allows federal, state, and local emergency management agencies to notify people about dangerous weather, missing children, and other critical public safety situations on their cell phones or other mobile devices.
