Ulster County awarded $2 million Clean Energy Grant for new Emergency Communications Center (NY)

KINGSTON — Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger announced that the County has been awarded a $2 million NYSERDA grant for the energy-smart and resilient Emergency Communications Center to be built on Paradies Lane in New Paltz.

Bid documents have now been released to construct the state-of-the-art facility, which will house the County’s Department of Emergency Services, including the Emergency-911 center, Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and the Divisions of Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services. During a natural disaster or other type of emergency, the EOC serves as the central point of coordination for emergency response and recovery.

New Lake County-wide dispatch system hires executive director (IL)

An executive director has been hired as the first official employee of the Lake County Consolidated Emergency Communications system set to become fully operational in 2025.

The board of directors of the agency known as LakeComm on Dec. 18 appointed Jason E. Kern to lead the system responsible for handling emergency calls for about 30 law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services agencies. He starts Jan. 20.
